Fresno State Students Take on Civil Engineering Design Challenge for Senior Projects

Education is the backbone of our industry and the California economy.  Last month, 25 students from Lyles College of Engineering at Fresno State, under the direction of CSUF professor Fariborz Tehrani, Ph.D., PE, SP, PMP, delivered their final presentations for a senior design project co-sponsored by ACEC-California’s San Joaquin Valley Chapter (including member firms AECOM, BSK, Brooks Ransom, Cornerstone, Kleinfelder, Provost & Pritchard, URS, Yamabe & Horn).

This is a program the San Joaquin Valley Chapter has supported for many years and all of the presentations were high quality, which tells us that there’s some great talent headed into our industry in the next few years.

The projects included designs for a retirement facility, a natural history museum, a community center and a grade separation for the BNSF railroad.

Thanks also to Walt Plachta of Blackburn Consulting and Mike Hartley of Bedrock Engineering for their support of the program and bringing this to our attention.
